The Project for innovation, Energy and Sustainability TM (PiES) provides a structure for emerging and early stage green businesses that assists them through the various phases of business development. This public-private partnership provides assistance to entrepreneurs in commonly needed realms of business growth and development; technical assistance and marketing.
The PiES incubator is unique to other incubator models with its emphasis on recycling, renewable energy and green buildings, with innovations from the community with support from academia. As a pilot project, it also provides educational resources to the local residents and businesses in implementing the triple bottom line of sustainability.
As the global economy shifts, local communities are looking for ways to foster innovation, create jobs and promote economic development opportunities. A location and business structure such as PiES is critical to the success of new and emerging companies in this new economy.
PiES is a member of the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Associations (NCSEA), North Carolina Business Incubation Association (NCBIA) and the BALLE Network - Business Alliance for Local Living Economies. See "BALLE Network" tab for more information.
